HS Engineering Class Kalimba's

So a year ago my engineering class made Kalimba’s Linked here

I am adding to the musical design unit with Kalimba’s!

I am thinking the next thing we do might be a harp, im open to suggestions if people have made any other cool instruments…

It likely wouldn’t involve a Glowforge, but Steel Drums are fabulous and require very precise measurements to get the right notes out of the right divots

There are several amazing folk here that have made many amazing musical instruments.

Alternatively, there have been interesting Cajon designs or perhaps with harp strings. I made a box a while back with bent ends so the wood was permanently under strain and while I was not thinking of it as making sounds, the sound of hitting it was amazing.

there have been some teachers who’ve done ukulele projects, too.

Ooo, very nice! I like the paintwork.

By harp do you mean door harp? They were super popular at one time. It was a sound box with strings that had mallets that hung down and struck a chord on the strings when the door was moved. A good instrument for the musically challenged.

How does it sound? I’ve been playing kalimba for about 10 years, I’d love to hear the sound it produces.
