New GF, Trying to setup but unable to connect to WIFI

Hello!

Looking for suggestions and HELP!

Just bought a GF PRO and trying to set it up.

I’ve checked my internet settings, password, making sure its on 2.4Ghz, etc… I’m able to click the GF name during set up, when prompted to click my wifi to enter password- I do so, but then I get the error message that the GF DID NOT CONNECT.

Ive moved near 4ft close to the modem/router and have been unsuccessful.

Ive tried multiple times and troubleshooting/resetting everything (GL, Modem, Computer).

SUGGESTIONS?

Do you have a VPN (for example, if you use DuckDuckGo on your phone, you do as a default) going on your system? If yes, turn it off (whether pc or phone).
Try using your phone as a hotspot and see if it’ll connect there - if yes then it’s an issue with your WiFi and there are more suggestions.
If no, it’s more likely an issue with your :glowforge:.

Still having issues.

During setup, I can get as far as selecting my wifi, but from there it continues to say. “GF DID NO CONNECT”.

Not sure if it helps, but I have Xfinity (Comcast). The GF is discoverable and reads “GF-ABC-123” during set up, along with the teal button lit on the GF, but again, still having issues finishing set up.

:frowning:

I’m going to point you to the questions I asked just above this post of yours - do you know/have you tried any of those?

As for the VPN, Im not too sure? I’m trying find how to turn if off on my xfinity/comcast website and app.

I tried using a hotspot. It found the GF, but couldnt find the hotspot when trying to select the wifi.

I’m assuming its the wifi or (hate to say it) user error as I guessing its rare for there to be an issue with a brand new GF.

Suggestions.

Thanks again for replying and trying to help. I really appreciate it as I am at the point of giving up.

There’s a video I’ll dig up that goes through the whole process. That might help you eliminate any possibility of user error.

I’m going to guess you’re not using a VPN. That wouldn’t be a Comcast thing, but instead a thing on your phone/PC.

Thank you! I tried following the steps. I attached an image (hopefully its large enough to read).

My mac is saying its connect to the GF when at that step, but setup does not say “HUZZAH”.

Something I am missing?

When your computer connects to the ESS network, is it automatic or do you have to type in the password?
If it’s automatic, I’d try deleting that from memory so it asks for a password (make sure you know your password first!)

The other question would be, what’s the security level on your network?

Yes it was automatic. I had tried Forgetting Network to re-enter password.
Unsuccessful. :frowning:
Security Level is WPA2.

I appreciate all the suggestions and help with my new GF. Was hoping it would be an easy set up. Hoping its something simple on my end still to get it going :frowning:

It usually is :frowning:

At this point I’m afraid it may actually be your WiFi chip in the :glowforge: …which will necessitate an exchange.

Before giving up, try doing the wifi setup from a different device (like a phone) or different browser (like Firefox, where you can do the whole setup in-browser rather than downloading a program). https://setup.glowforge.com is the address to start.

Thank you Dan! I was still unsuccessful after changing devices, an ipad, another computer, and two different phones. On the computers Ive tried Firefox as well as Safari. :frowning:
