Passthrough - immediate failure

I’ve used the passthrough feature on my GF before, with varying results. But I’ve never had this particular issue before: I’m engraving a very thin material (Rowmark, polished brass TrophyMark) that’s about 1/32” thick. It’s a 21” long piece, so I line up my material, toggle Passthrough, and set my material thickness and engraving and cutting settings. I click “Print”, it goes through the camera focusing procedure, then immediately goes to a “print failure” state, asking me if I want to align the print manually. It’s as if the software thinks I have already printed the first section of the print, and is trying to align the second part of the print - instead of print the first part.

Could this be an issue with the shininess of the material? Or is there something else going on? I need to get this done for a client, but I’ve been troubleshooting this for a week with no resolution.

It could definitely be an issue with shininess. The autofocus routine needs to be able to see the red dot on the material.

In general there are passthrough techniques that get good results, take a look at these from @mark14 and see if any of them might help:

There have been some interface glitches of late - especially with jpg files. I suggest trying to print this file on cardboard to rule out the reflective problem and try printing a different file to rule out the file type glitch.
