Playing with Canvas again

Step one: Paint four canvases at once…

Step 2: Pick out 4 of the most iconic black and white album cover photos…
Step 3: Profit!

They sit nicely over the record collection.

The colors are a bit brighter in person, but I think heavier coats of the red and yellow would have been better.

Neat! Do you coat them after? I wonder if a clear coat would enhance the colors.

Usually, I just brush them off. The laser leaves a really fine dust of black paint/ash/smutz that will smear really easily if any moisture hits it. I think the key to getting better color is more about thickness of the paint layer and dialing in the laser.

I want to play with some dyes too, just to see if having something soak into the fiber makes a difference.

You might need a sublimation printer, just, you know, to take things to the next level.

Why thank you.

Love that you didn’t frame them.

Thanks. I really wanted to keep an album cover look to them, so framing seemed unnecessary.

Very cool! Are you using vary power or dots? It looks like the lighter colors burn away easier, which is what I am seeing with paints too. I need to play with those too.
