A terrible slap in the face. I thought that my March date was bad and a punch in the gut, then I just realized that the March date, is actually 6 weeks before I even get it! I wont get mine til the end of May beginning of June!!!
The other huge slap in the face is that they so graciously gave us a discount til the end of of 2018, but I won’t even get my unit until June 2018.
Not going to take that risk.
I will not be left holding this crap laser if it doesn’t sell.
I’ll take this money… add some stock sales and go with the Bigger, Better, Boss Laser. China maybe… but at least they support their customers.
Oh, and I expect these posts to be Censored by Dan’s team… because darn… we can’t have people seeing their are other options available.
It might be worth while to negotiate. Business is business. If we can assemble enough of us to bargain for a better deal or cancel our orders collectively, we may be able to get better value for our investment.
Ummm…no they didn’t. The Muse has had a fairly Rocky rollout. Capabilities promised aren’t available. I was watching that one as a possible bailout earlier this year. Their intro was a crash & burn and their support continued to live down to their reputation.
Now with Dremel relabeling it, the machine might be a contender. But the rep I talked to was saying it’s 9 months away.
Boss and universal are nice. Youll probably be paying double at least what you paid for the glowforge though. For epilog and trotec youll be in the 10-40k range. Theyre all good lasers, especially if you can afford a ceramic tube trotec, but thats top of the line stuff.
Im curious to know what you end up with, just dont go FSL…
oh and PS, china gives you minimal support, but thats only so they can keep their bitcoin miners running on your computer in the background… lol
Wow. I’m NOT happy at all. I just check and I won’t get my basic email until at least march 21, 2018. I don’t know if I’m willing to wait that long with given how many delays there have been already!
actually 6 weeks after march, You’ll be getting it at the end of May or beginning of June. If it makes you feel any better, I ordered in the US, about 20 minutes from the company and I will get it the same time as you!
At least we have the 10% discount until the end of 2018, we’ll get a whole 6 months of use!
March 2018. Really going to have to do some thinking on this. I was expecting a delay (to Canada), but not another 5 (6 with actually shipping date?) months.
On one hand, been in it for 2 years, what’s another 5 months?
On the other hand - who says they’ll even make THAT date?
At this rate I might be able to swap my 20$ a month credit for a basic to pro upgrade, heh.
Is there any chance this date gets bumped up to a sooner date, or is this a minimum time, @dan ?
Oh? Interesting.
I’ve read the reviews of FSL… and they are universally negative about the people running the company (not the product). Seriously; for about twice the cost of Glowforge Pro… you can get a 24x36in 150w Boss machine which claims you can cut metal. Take my word for this… bigger is almost always better. Eventually; the small tablesize of the GF will be it’s second biggest problem.
One thing is for sure; it can’t be worse than the delays and limited capabilities of GF’s software stack.
I would agree that your responses are not about the “koolaid”.
However I suspect a bit of preservation. If glow forge goes out of business then the laser goes off right?
I fear a “run on the banks” will push them out of business and the run looks to be starting. Then people like me holding out hope even while getting bitter are going to be holding the bag… while people like you will have a machine that you can eventually get working after stand alone hacks or private servers appear.
