Snapmarks question

I’ve never had Snapmarks but would love to try it. How do I know ‘if’ my machine is capable and it’s been turned on? I do have premium as well…thanks!!

I think this covers you?

It took me a minute to spot it, but it says (in part):

If Snapmark is enabled on your machine, you will find the Snapmark on the … menu on the toolbar of your workspace.

Weirdly, even though I’m a long-time owner and premium subscriber, I’ve never seen snap marks - aren’t they supposed to be “back”?

Yeah, something is up. After the upgrade, my Snapmark which have been there since beta testing are gone.

You don’t get them anymore unless you go premium from what i understand. They are gone on my basic machine that had them since the beta.

Dan’s December update said Snapmark beta users will be getting them back without needing to get Premium after you reboot your machine.

So is there a way to ‘get’ them enabled? (Or do you know :-), I realize you’re not the expert…)

Dan’s December 2025 update [linked here] addressed getting them enabled for legacy beta testers:

The November 2025 update [linked here] announced snapmarks developments:

Beyond that they’ve said that not all machines are able to get snapmarks turned on; they’ve never fully explained why or how to tell if you’re affected by that. We’re largely in the dark except for this:

You can always contact support as a one off but I’d think it would be in Glowforge’s best interests to tell us if there’s some relatively simple rule about this. Maybe by serial number? If they tell us how to figure it out it’ll head off (frustrating) support calls. This is exactly the type of thing that Glowforge front line support agents fumble all the time.

Or heck enable the snap button for everyone, and if you try to select it it says “sorry, your machine doesn’t support snapmarks.”, then without skipping a beat offer an upgrade path to a new machine.
Some marketing guy, hopped up on caffeine (we think): IN-PRODUCT UPSELLING BABY!

I’m not the world’s expert on anything really but from a usability standpoint this sort of obscured pattern is just not good for lots of reasons.

I have an original Glowforge Basic and have been using the Snapmarks as Beta extensively. I was so glad to see that the company finally rolled it out for all Premium subscribers that I didn’t mind upgrading to Premium on December 18 so that I could continue to use the feature.

Now I see that I could have gotten it for free if I had waited a few more days…

That’s fine – I will probably make the Premium benefits work out for me.

But now I find that the Snapmark menu item has disappeared for me altogether!

Please someone tell me this is fixable – I rely very heavily on this feature.

I did email support as it’s not an emergency for me. I did see it once on the drop down list at the top but it was grayed out. I’ll wait and see what they say. As you said, it would be a lot less frustrating for everyone if you knew if your machine was capable or not…

I contacted Support when my Snapmark disappeared after the update in spite of the fact that I have Premium. Today they reappeared. Check to see if yours did as well.
