Trying to figure out which wood to buy that is similar to the glow forge but cost effective. I bought some on amazon and it does not cut well at all…
#1a covers material source recommendations and how to find them:
I order all my woods (and acrylics usually) from GS2 Awards. They have good prices, great sales, and free shipping over $100, and they ship quickly too. They also have great customer service (they answer their phone!) for any questions or problems you have with an order. I’ve never had any problem cutting any of their materials.
Keep in mind that the Proofgrade is actually guaranteed to work (part of why it’s more expensive) - so if you use it and the appropriate settings and it doesn’t cut through then you can contact customer support.
That being said, go checkout @evansd2 list, which includes GS2 Awards along with a bunch of other folk’s personal favourites. The biggest thing is purchasing wood that specifies it is for laser cutting as there are glues that are not cuttable so a lot of default plywood is uncuttable.
