Today we’re announcing a refresh to the original Glowforge Plus and Pro: Plus HD and Pro HD! There’s four key improvements:
- Faster cutting speeds. You know how your Glowforge just got faster? Plus HD and Pro HD are even speedier… see below for details!
- Better image quality makes it easier to see and lay out your design.
- Preview Mode lets you prototype, preview, and see your designs in crystal clear detail before you print, empowering your creativity and saving you time and resources.
- We’ve made improvements to the camera, optical system, and linear system to improve overall performance and durability.
Here’s a little more about each one.
Faster cutting speeds
Last week, we told you that your Glowforge is getting faster. Now, the Pro HD and Plus HD are here to set new speed records. Here’s the comparison:

Better image quality
Plus HD and Pro HD offer better image quality to make laying out your design easier than ever.
Preview Mode
We’re using the enhanced camera system on the Plus HD and Pro HD for another feature as well: Preview Mode, to make it easier to see how your print is going to look on the final materials. The Aura and Spark use the same enhanced camera, so they will be getting Preview Mode as well.
Hardware Improvements
At the factory, we’ve been rolling out incremental Plus and Pro improvements to key components based on customer and RMA feedback to improve durability and performance. Most of the Plus and Pro units built over the past year benefit from these improvements as well.
Pricing (including yours)
Folks can still purchase the original Glowforge Plus and Glowforge Pro, but we know many people are going to opt for the new HD models. If you’d like an upgrade, we’re offering something just for Glowforge customers: $1,000 off the Glowforge Pro HD. This is not available to anyone else - if you’d like to order, call 1-888-8GLOWFORGE or email sales@glowforge.com. They’ll confirm you’re a Glowforge owner. There’s a limit of only one Glowforge Pro HD discount each.
