When using non Proofgrade material your best bet is to do some testing. If you enter “baltic birch” in the search bar above you will find many threads and examples of other people using baltic birch. Some include settings that worked for them.

I use a lot of Baltic birch.

My starting point to get to my favorite settings is proofgrade Medium maple ply.

Then adjust to dial in your batch of bbbb (big box Baltic birch)

Test a small thing to dial in.

I do exactly the same as you. That is a good starting point to start with. When using Baltic birch I usually slow the cuts down a little too.
