What is the best way to use the glowforge without the crumb tray? How do I measure to find out the focus height and any other things I may need to do?
The maximum distance for the laser to focus is 1/2 inch (.5). So with the crumbtray removed, you will need raise your material to within that 1/2 inch window.
The item you are engraving must be within the 1/2" focus range of the Glowforge. With the honeycomb tray out, the surface to be engraved must be between 1.5" and 2" from the floor of the Glowforge. … or you can just measure it directly.

I almost always use set focus anymore…takes all that math away as long as you’re in the ballpark!!
