Not all vinyl is bad, EVA for example is safe to use. no chlorine to gum up your electronics.

Craft Foam Sheets Safety and Settings

I bought some craft foam sheets on Amazon and I was wondering if anybody has some settings that worked well. One type is 5mm: Extra Thick Craft Foam Sheets - EVA Material The other foam type is: Darice Foamies Adhesive Back Foam Sheets Also, do I have to apply paper backing to avoid burn marks? Thanks much!

EVA Foam Settings for Cosplay Projects

[2020-01-04 14.56.56] I personally used 325 speed 100 power and but the one pass. This is 5mm EVA foam [20200111_141842] I got this foam from Joann’s but good luck finding it. They had 5 different foams 3 of them NOT laser safe in 5 different areas. be very certain of the foam type. This stuff is totally laser safe.

Amazon has it, and when the madness is over, Joanns also.

If in doubt test the material with the copper rod test for chlorine. Not that that is the only baddie to look out for.
