Looking for settings, supplies and any other suggestions or information to laser engrave bottle openers or wine key/bottle opener combo. My son is getting married and I would like to make these for his reception
If you get walnut openers, start with the Proofgrade settings for walnut veneer or medium walnut plywood. The power/speed settings are similar, but you may wish to modify power and lpi based on your graphic. To insure precise placement of your design, make a jig. There are many suppliers of various kinds of wood bottle openers - including Amazon.
Any of the ones with wood are incredibly easy, or you could go with anodised aluminium is you want to introduce colour
Once you get them, this is the perfect place to make a quick jig.
Put a piece of cardboard in your laser and secure it on all sides.
Create a design that has an outline of the opener, and then whatever you want engraved.
In the GFUI set everything but the outline to Ignore.
Cut the outline out of the cardboard.
Pull out just the cut shapes, leaving the cardboard secured.
Place the openers into the holes in the cardboard.
In the GFUI, switch the outline cut to ignore
Change the material from cardboard to the correct one
Set your engraving to Engrave.
Do NOT move anything in the GFUI - even if it looks wrong.
Hit go!
Create perfectly lined up engravings
If you’re looking at big quantities (100+), I’d suggest Ali Express, but if you’re talking about 20 or so Amazon is easy.
Definitely buy at least one spare so you can practice on it without caring what it looks like in the end!
Incredible suggestions. Thanks. Can’t wait to try these
