Just when you think the joke is over after having paid 150+ to ship a 20$ part overseas, I’m in the middle of reattaching the lid black wire/cable and the handle unglues sharding the glass and tearing the solder connectors in the process…
Hoooooooly fffffff…k
How fun of a piece of hardware to choose such a poor (glue) solution.

So apparently I’ve soldered the pins the best I could but it’s not enough and the GF app reports LID OPEN.
I need to complete a job I’ve already delayed enough with the damn unglued lid, black wire damage, shipping delay, replacement and now this…
Is there any “bypass” trick I could temporarily apply to sort this out and I’ll revisit the solder points later!??!
Pretty please?
The technique for bypassing the lid sensors involves placing magnets near them below the handle. So that’s not going to help in this situation.
If you knew for certain that the only conductors that were broken were for those sensors, I am sure it would be possible to trace back using a continuity test, and bypass on a circuit board - the one at the back that the lid cable plugs into.
I have an EE degree, and started fiddling with electronics for a hobby when I was nine – in the mid 70s. This would be somewhat of a daunting task for me.

I was able to recover functionality on the sensors by resoldering from scratch.
Now the adventure continues… on the THIRD episode of the series “Let me welcome myself!”
