Live Edge Wood - Won't engrave - Material Thickness Error

I am attempting to engrave on a piece of live edge wood without the crumb tray. My Glowforge will not print and gives me an error about the thickness of my material. The piece of wood is .865 inches so it should work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to bypass the warning?

Designed in the glowforge software

Raise it up until the top surface is slightly less than 1/2 inch from the laser head. It can only focus to a depth of 1/2 inch.

Read through these posts, it’ll tell you everything you need to know.

It took a bit of searching but I found what I consider one of the best explanations for using the GF without the crumb tray. The only thing which may be a problem is the 1.4 inch should read 1.5 inch in my opinion.

Thanks to glowforge user kittski for this:

This might be helpful?

Make one of these. It makes getting the material within the laser’s focus range easy.

This is the best way I have seen to explain the focal point. Thanks for sharing I will be posting near GF.
