Pen engraving

Hello everyone, I am new to glow forge Aura and I need help. I got some pens on amazon https://a.co/d/9kQ3Wp8 and I wanted to surprise my husband and engrave them with his practice name. Since he got me the Aura I thought it would be a nice surprise but now I can’t seem to get the right settings to engrave them. They are metal pens with a non-slip grip like silicone maybe rubber . Can anyone help me figure out the settings to make this work?
I would really appreciate it!

Given, I do not have an Aura but this link would be my jumping off point if I were in your position:

Not even the more powerful CO2 laser models can engrave on metal, but they can remove anodization. If that’s how the color is applied to those pens, then any settings for things like a phone or laptop would be a good starting point.

You need to learn how to work with custom settings and experiment with the actual materials you have, as it is unlikely someone else’s settings are going to work unless they have the exact same product.

Hey, welcome to the forum.

You’re getting great advice already. Just adding a quick pointer to #6 in the FAQ—it covers settings and testing in more detail.

You might also find #4 on material safety helpful.

There’s a lot of useful info in the FAQ. Skim the headers and read whatever seems relevant. For example, #5a is all about acrylic and your Aura — definitely something you’ll want to check out soon.

Happy lasering! Experimenting like this is part of the fun.
