Yeah, it really didn’t seem like 5 hours! Time flies when you’re having fun. Well, I tried to resist saying it, but the Glowforge really is bigger in person. 1/2" Cast Acrylic

I had a need to made some parts out of 1/2" clear cast acrylic. I bought the material from Inventables using my GlowCredit, and after a few stabs in the dark, wound up with this mess: [MVIMG_20171031_202744] And, the first fire I had to put out. Melty - ish inside edges when using Acrylic - Settings help?

Hi. I cut my first acrylic using GF last night. I used black proofgrade. When the cut was done and I removed the item, the outside lines were clean but right inside there is a wavy melty-ish line that I can see. I have not had this happen with other laser cutters that I’ve used. I allowed the app to select the setting based on the material but am I just going to need to play with the settings to avoid this, is there some kind of settings chart that I’m not aware of, or does this just happen wit…

Multipass

This question is about multiple passes in laser cutting/etching. For Leeloo Dallas information, see Fifth Element. As a laser-noob, I’m trying to understand when I will want to use multiple passes. Is it a matter of tough materials to cut/etch? Is it a matter of what will cut/etch “nicely?” Is there a best practice for multiple passes? Looking for some general insight here. Thanks!
