Engraving over decoupage

Hey,

Has anyone tried engraving text over a decoupaged item?

I figure if I decoupage the wood then seal it with MDF sealer. I should then be able to put a low tack masking paper over the decoupage without damaging it either with scorch marks or when removing the masking paper… :thinking:

Just thought I’d see if anyone has already done it.

Essentially that’s how people make jigsaw puzzles, so yes there are lots of people who have done it – myself included. Your method is exactly how I did it. (Though I cut, not engraved. Engraving will work just fine.)

I have nothing to add here, other than that I misread the title as “Engraving over decolletage”, and expected a very different post.
