My 3+ year old GF Plus randomly stopped cutting through PG acrylic today. I was cutting some things for a couple hours and the first batch of stuff cut fine, but towards the end it would not cut through. I stopped to clean the air assist fan, crumb tray and all the optics properly, and then decided to try the Gift of Good Measure on medium draftboard to see if it would cut that, but it did not. Not sure what else to do. My optics look good - no dark spots or burn marks, and otherwise the machine seems fine. Could it be the laser tube?
Does it come close to cutting through? Is the poor cutting performance equal across the board or worse on one side or the other? Is the cut line unchanged or does it seem thicker?
No, it doesn’t come close to cutting through at all. I contacted Support and they basically said I need a new machine. After receiving and reviewing all the pics of my optics, fans and everything they determined the machine just crapped out I guess.
Does anyone know how that process works? They just present you with a proposal to buy a refurbished machine?
Strange! If the problem is the tube, it usually fades gradually, not in one afternoon. I am sad to say that there have been some recent incidents when Support was not providing accurate information. If I were you, I would not just assume the machine is a goner.
