Have you seen the IKEA hacks site? It about repurposing or enhancing the furniture. I thought I would start a thread to collect files enhancements or add-ons. This is not meant to copy the design and make edits and redistribute.

I’ll start. This is for the free design for this month (recipe box).
Here. is a file to cut your own dividers out of cardstock. They are the standard 3x5 index card size with little gaps to keep the paper from flying away.

I’ve got a few of those
Making a coaster into a fidget spinner:
Double the size:
@lorri ’s Holiday Moose Ornament is adorable exactly as is, but I wanted a bigger one, so I doubled it up in the GFUI and got this masterpiece I’m going to attach to my door wreath
[image]
It’s about 8" tall with everything attached.

If I did another one I’d either double up the score on the eyebrows and mouth, or defocus it. I ended up going over it with a pen to make it stand out. I might also flip over the lights and score the divider line on the backside. I coloured eve…
Crystal to Lightsaber:
Wall art to trivet (shrink):
Another one from the Catalog This one is Tim Ung’s Layered Mandala Art .
As designed it’s 10.5", but I wanted to use it as a trivet so I shrunk it down to 5.5 in the GFUI. Instead of using finished wood I coloured the layers with alcohol inks, and then sealed with Rustoleum Rippled Effect spray . I sealed the back and sides with tung oil.

It’s the first layered piece I’ve done, and it of course sent me down a rabbit hole I do love the feel …
Most of the other hacks are making tiny changes to elements - like this:
Absolutely, but it takes some work.
(I haven’t looked at the particular design, so that instructions are generic, but should work)
With the design selected right click and ungroup it.
Make a copy of the section with the holes.
Using the commands in the lower left section resize the holes (if they’re in a line you can unclick the link icon and make them narrower without changing their length.)
Line them back up with the original holes and group the parts you want.
Delete the parts you don’t…
or
Yes - it’s not the easiest thing, but it’s definitely doable.
In your GFUI
Zoom in as close as you can
Select the earring
Click Ctl-Shift-g (this will ungroup everything)
Select just the hole for the split ring
Move/resize it to where you want it
Drag a box over the whole earring
Click Ctl-g (to regroup it)
Click print to see if your edit worked!
If that doesn’t work, post which earring in particular and either I, or another user, might be able to provide more specific advice …

I did something similar here:
I was playing around with making short videos on how to make changes to a catalog item. I made a video yesterday on something basic, like changing the shape of coasters.
While I was doing that, my daughter made the passing comment that these would make great earrings.
So today, I turned the monstera leaf coasters into monstera leaf dangle earrings. I think they look great, but it’s because @aloha did a great job with the original design.

And i saw someone on IG turn my maneki neko earrings into a table once:

I know. I was shocked when i saw it. Made me want to make a table. Actually, i just recently purchased some folding table legs, so i do plan on making a table. However, the legs were shorter than i expected, so probably won’t be the coffee table i was hoping for.

I made this for my wife’s desk at work, she is hybrid and there twice a week.
I made these calendar inserts using an AI image generator for the month names.
Calendar Name Cards 2024.pdf (2.7 MB)
I based it on the specs for these name cards.

We will see if they fit, when I get them.

I got two “print” laser printers. One is low on toner, the other won’t connect after I upgraded my Mac.
But the cards fit!.

There is another picture frame design in the catalog that uses a 4 x 6 inch picture. I had some left over note cards from a recipe box, and they fit just right. I am able to feed the through my printer using the manual feed slot.
