How do I tell the machine the tray is out? I am doing a manual with tray out and engrave on something 2 in. The manual settings will not take 2 in defaults to .5.

The machine has no idea if the tray is in or out. It only knows if material it’s trying to focus on is within it’s 0 - 1/2" range. You need to bring the surface to be engraved to within that range and use “set focus”.
