Pi on Pie

I’ve always wondered what Pi on pie would look like, or even what it’d be like to engrave on a pie. We’ve experimented with different types of food related products but could it be done on a soft pie, and not a pie crust? Well folks, the answer is yes!! Took some tweaking but showed up better than I expected on a custard pie.! (Those little flakes are nutmeg… just in case anyone was wondering :-)) [IMG_2338]

Custom tortilla chips

Every year we throw a huge adult halloween party a our place. We make custom tortilla chips for the party (using halloween themed cookie cutters), so I figured the GF would do high precision cuts. I’m sorry, but I have to call out dan and glowforge on this one. No tortillas?!?! The fact you can laser guacamole is a long established fact (thanks to @henryhbk ) so no one thought to stock the store with tortillas? Epic fail. What do you get when you give a music-and-design-geek a laser and too much spare time? Last weekend, it was a tortilla-chip recreation of Joy Division’s iconic Unknown Pleasures album cover. Laser all the Food?

So I have now engraved food. [image] My younger daughter drew the smiley face and we scanned it. As you can tell, it had a great contrast using 1/335/225. Did I eat it? Yes. Yes I did. Was it delicious? No. No it wasn’t. The engraved parts did not taste like toasted bread. They tasted like ash. (Yes, I said “ash.”)

So tonight we answer two questions, can you and should you, because some of you are I am sure, tempted: Yes and No are the answers.
