Last Week’s Highlights Yes, the Production Units are Shipping.
Curious about your place in line? They are following the plan outlined by @dan here, from October 2015.
Let me try to give you as much information as I can given where we are right now, 11 days in…
Shipping order will depend in part on your model, because the factory is at going to decide on the production order. We’re going to tell them to manufacture in the way that lets them finish fastest. We’ll tell you what they decide as soon as we know.
Air filters may not arrive on the same day as your Glowforge. We’ll ship everything as soon as it’s ready. It’s both cheaper that way (shipping both in …
And to make sure you don’t miss your E-mail just a friendly reminder update your spam settings to never block
email@example.com though probably as suggested in the quoted thread * @glowforge.com is better as you can interact with support@ and several other useful addresses uninterrupted that way. More Maker Faire Highlights

Awards Won! Editor’s Choice!
Congratulations @Kallisti and @takitus !
Maker Faire was my first ever convention as a new business. I went with a bit of fear and a lot of excitement. I shipped out my props and got a plane ticket. When I got to the convention center I found my booth, an outside area under a tree, and got set up. I had been placed in the Steampunk area and My neighbors sold amazing jewelry, hats, and clothes. My immediate neighbors were Obtanium Studios, the makers of the Neverwas Haul. These are some of the people that inspired me to get into Steampu…

How is the Delayed Shipment Bonus Calculated?
Good question - I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear. The bonus keeps increasing per individual, up until you personally get an email that your Glowforge is ready for shipment. Then it stops accruing, whether you decide to accept shipment now or later.
I’ll try to remember to mention that in the next monthly update.

Many years ago I was at a yard sale and I picked up this awesome filing cabinet for a mere $25!
When I agreed to purchase it was open. By the time I got back with cash another yard-sale patron had decided to close the top drawer… the owner didn’t have the key. I went ahead and made the purchase anyway. It took some doing but I eventually drilled the lock out and got the thing open. My vision has always been to make custom drawer inserts for the storage of Magic cards. Currently they l…
So, last week I saw mention of this game called Pencil Park on Twitter. I looked it up and it is a print-&-play game, so I downloaded it, printed it out and
@martinell.jan and I are really enjoying it! Here is the game’s page on BoardGameGeek.com: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/222798/pencil-park
It is a dice-planning game in which you have two cards that make up a 6x12 grid with some spaces covered over. There are a bunch of different cards that you choose randomly, and you can orient th…
When one has a stack of Magic cards that they want to sell to Card Kingdom…
One tries to find a box to ship them in… I have a LOT of card boxes, but all of the ones big enough left a lot of free space… what is one to do?
Wait! I have a laser!! Make a custom box!!!
All ready to ship off for some nice store credit!
Decided “The Scream” escutcheon, while amusing just wasn’t awesome (more snarky - which admittedly is me) so after watching the first 3 episodes of the latest season of 12 Monkeys, figured that would be awesome in Inventables translucent 1/8" red acrylic.
Took a bunch of work in Photoshop to clean the image (it is deliberately noisy, which wouldn’t work here) and then selected an inner circle and outer circle. Brought those into illustrator and auto-traced (did it as black and white logo trace.…

Cutting Board Comparison
Back in the Dark Ages of the forum, I posted a photo of a bamboo cutting board I made on an 80W Rabbit laser:
Flammarion Engraving Cutting Board
Here’s its big big sister fresh from the Glowforge:
The original JPEG was 300 dpi, this was engraved on bamboo at 1/150/225.
It was unmasked and I haven’t cleaned it yet. The smaller one is ~2 years old and has been through the dishwasher multiple times and freshened with mineral oil occasionally.
No, I don’t cut foods on the engraved side…
X Marks the Spot
Simplistic in design and a cinch to make with a pre-release Glowforge and my old standby favorite, embossing powder, these little pins harken to buried pirate treasure, your location in a shopping mall…or souvenirs for sale in a park gift shop.
These are one more little fun thing I’m making for guests during our family get-together in July. I will admit, it’s for selfish reasons……because I can, because it’s really fun, and last but not least……becauseI want to show off a little (or maybe a lot).…
Cat Shelves Deployed
Today was install day at my wife’s practice for the
cat perch and cat steps. I ended up going with a distressed stain in green (it’s supposed to be foliage/cat themed for the tree).
So why distressed? Well because super cheap 1/8" birch ply takes stain like crap. But as someone who views problems as challenges, figured, well heck why not embrace that too? It looks more natural. So I didn’t put prestain on, and didn’t concentrate on really getting a smooth look. And where the spew from the lase…
